Giant Loop Review: Gear Scout writes about BMW F650GS with Fandango, Coyote and Rogue

Over at ExpeditionPortal.comChristophe Noel tells about using the full Giant Loop motorcycle packing system on his BMW F650 Dakar.  Christophe is using a Fandango Tank Bag, Coyote Saddlebag with Drypods and Rogue Dry Bag. His BMW is a desirable edition and Giant Loop looks just right, all mounted up.

He writes in his review,

“…It seems good soft luggage is still hard to come by with many manufacturers banging on with the same poor designs which have been around for years.

I recently found myself once again in need of a soft luggage system and the Giant Loop Coyote Bag came with a chorus of glowing recommendations…

…Individually, each piece has more than exceeded my expectations. Combined, they’re a tour de force of design and construction.”

Thanks for riding Giant Loop, Christophe and for the great review!

Giant Loop Tech Tip: Siskiyou Panniers On KTM 690 Enduro, With Racks

As Giant Loop Rider Noah Horak makes his way around the world, more riders are seeing the Siskiyou Panniers in use on KTM’s 690 Enduro. Noah is in Japan presently, hanging with gold plated Monkey bikers.

We have received several questions about using our panniers on the 690 and just got a great email from a customer, with his creative and effective solution.

I’ll share it here:

Giant Loop rider Allen wrote us and said,  “Yes, I’ve been following Noah on his travels. Here are some pictures of my installation of the Siskiyou Panniers. I decided to use shock cord to thread the bags onto the Rally Raid racks.  So far I really like the way it has worked.”690sisk-5

Allen added, “I folded over the Velcro and am just using the straps for support across the top.  That leaves the gas cap open for easy re-fueling.”690-sisk

“On the 690 I mounted the heat shield on the very end and so far it is looking very secure.”

Thanks Allen!!

Giant Loop Happy New Year From Summer Lake Hot Springs

Happy New Years view of Picture Rock!

Giant Loop was closed for the New Year’s Holiday and the weather was unseasonably warm. This meant that skiing Mt Bachelor was not part of the celebration schedule, so Harold loaded up the KTM 500 EXC, his camping gear and family, then headed to Summer Lake Hot Springs instead.  It was cold at night, but the hot springs, heavy sleeping bags and the 50* day time temperature made for a good adventure.

First ride of 2014!
